Category: Remodel
Type: Private Residence
Location: Sonoma, CA
Status: Completed (2023)
This 1950’s craftsman house in Sonoma, CA had a small and dark interior which was unsuitable for its aging-in-place resident. The house was completely striped to its structural members in order to rebuild an open kitchen, expanded and handicap accessible bathroom, accessible laundry area, and widened doorways to the bedrooms. A new skylight guides residents to the private rear of the house and brings light into the core of the space. In the construction process, the long-covered solid redwood flooring were rediscovered, refinished, and are now part of the house’s interior again.
